Guidelines
Studio Access:
You have access to the studio for glazing only, not for making. This means that you make your work at home and bring it to the studio when it is ready to go into the bisque. After it has gone through the bisque you can schedule a time to use the studio to glaze. Your studio time should be fully self guided.

Dropping work off & picking work up:
Please arrange via email a time you will stop by to drop-off/pickup. The studio is active during the following times. If you can not make it during any of the scheduled hours, please reach out with your scheduling needs.

Summer Schedule:
Monday: 10:00am - 8:00pm
Tuesday : 10:00am - 8:00pm
Wednesday: 10:00am - 8:00pm

Open Studio Hours:
- Please be respectful of everyone’s time. If you book a session and are not going to show up - please email Katie. If you book a session and are going to be more than 15 minutes late - please email/text Katie.
- Please be mindful of when Open Studio ends or when your session ends. Begin cleaning up at least 20 minutes before the end of your session.
- We close Open Studio a half hour (8:00pm) before classes end in the evening to allow students in the class to be able to clean up appropriately. Please be mindful of the time you are to end your open studio session.
- Being mindful of time allows the maintenance of the studio to happen and allows schedules to run smoothly.

Glaze Use:
You are welcome to use our in-house glazes. Currently, we have 13 glazes of varying colors and sheens. If it is your first time using the studio, you will need to schedule a glaze orientation with Katie before you schedule your first glazing appointment.
- You are welcome to use outside glazes as long as they are approved by Ovington Pottery.
- Please keep glazes covered when not in use. Water from the glaze buckets can evaporate or contaminate one another with splashes.
- Underglazes are not available for community use, please purchase your own if you would like to use them in the studio.

Firing :
You are welcome to put work in our community firings. We try to fire the kilns at least once a month, this can vary depending on the amount of work that the students make. If you have a deadline for your pieces, please let us know, we will most likely be able to fire them for your deadline.

Clay:
We use Laguna #40 Stoneware fired to Cone 6. You are welcome to use your own clay as long as you submit the information about the clay to Ovington Pottery before making your work.

Cleanliness:
Please be mindful of the cleanliness of the studio. As a partipcating member of the studio, you must clean your workstation and surrounding area. Please pay attention to any glaze or water that has fallen on the floor.

Vibe:
Please be sure to respect the other students in the studio while you are glazing your work. If a class is in session, Katie will be happy to answer any small questions but please realize that her attention needs to be focused on the students at hand.

Phone use:
Please use this time to detach from digital life and immerse yourself in creativity. There is a study done that a disruption during a concentrated period of time can take you 23 minutes to get that focus back . If you need to take a phone call while others are in the studio, please move into the hallway or go outside to do so.

Our studio is quite intimate and is really the only place where your hands are too dirty to use your phone all the time. While I realize that people would like to take videos of them doing awesome things, I ask that you only film yourself. Please do not film while in class with other students or while other students/members are around during open studio hours.

Music:
You are welcome to use your headphones if other people are in the studio or connect to the speaker via bluetooth if you are the only one in the space.

Commitment & Cancellation Policy:
We do not require a certain amount of time to commit to the Home Membership but due ask that you give us 2 weeks notice if you will be ending your Membership.
Please note that if you pay for specific months of Membership, your work will need to be processed during that time. It will not be processed after the month(s) you have paid for.

Payment Policy:
We require payment for the Home Membership on the 1st of each month.

Community Respect:
Ovington Pottery is a safe and welcoming place for all people. Creative work often requires space to think, reflect and make. We ask that you allow others the chance to do that by limiting your amount of chatting, space consumption and technology use.
